Announcement on the Launch of the 2026/2027 Chinese Government Scholarship (Bilateral Program)

The Chinese Government sets up scholarships to support talented students and scholars from all over the world to study or conduct research at Chinese universities(institutions). Applicants interested in the Chinese Government Scholarship should visit China Scholarship Council (CSC) website "Study in China", https://www.campuschina.org/ (English version) or https://www.campuschina.org/zh/ (Chinese version), read the "Application Guide for Chinese Government Scholarship", familiarize themselves with the application requirements and procedures, and prepare application documents in advance according to the specific program requirements and the "Documents List for Chinese Government Scholarship Application" (Annex 1).

The 2026/2027 academic year Chinese Government Scholarship "Bilateral Program" has now been launched. The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Dominican Republic assists the China Scholarship Council in accepting, reviewing, and recommending applications for the "Bilateral Program". The following are further important supplementary instructions:

1. The Chinese Government Scholarship "Bilateral Program" provides support for Dominican students and scholars to undertake various types of study in China, including undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs, as well as studies as general scholars and senior scholars. This also includes short-term Chinese language studies.

Please Note: The Chinese Government Scholarship cannot be held concurrently with other scholarships offered by Chinese governments at different levels or by admitting institutions (excluding various one-time bonuses).


2. Applicants should pay special attention to the language proficiency requirements specified in the related documents.

a) Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, applicants for undergraduate programs must register for in advance and take the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) before submitting their scholarship application. A valid CSCA Score Report must be obtained and uploaded to the application system. For details on the CSCA, please visit www.csca.cn. Please contact your target university(s) to inquire about and obtain the required test subjects for your intended program.

*For enrollment in September 2026, applicants must take the CSCA assessment on December 21, 2025, or January 25, 2026.

b) For general scholar programs (except those majoring in Chinese Language) or senior scholar programs, if they are instructed in Chinese,in principal, the applicants should have passed the HSK Level 3. Applicants applying as general scholars specifically for Chinese language study are exempt from this requirement.

c) For master's or doctoral programs ,if they are instructed in Chinese, in principle, the applicants should have passed the HSK Level 4.

d) Applicants who have previously obtained degrees from Chinese universities using Chinese as the language of instruction are exempt from providing Chinese language proficiency certificates.

e) Applicants must also meet any other language proficiency requirements for admission set by the target university.


3. To obtain admission documents, applicants should follow the application procedures, inquire about university and program information through the CSC "Study in China" website (https://www.campuschina.org) and the websites of target universities, contact the admission offices of target universities in advance, and obtain at least one admission notice or intent document (such as a pre-admission notice issued by the department for international students admission, acceptance letter from a supervisor, or invitation letter from a school/department/professor,etc.) from their target institution(s).


4. Applicants should follow the "Instructions for Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (For Applicants)" (Annex 2) to register and submit application documents online via the application system. The "Agency Number" of the Chinese Embassy in the Dominican Republic is: 2141. If any application documents are not in Chinese or English, an English translation must be provided.


5. Please complete and submit your online application by February 25, 2026. Early submission of application is encouraged to allow sufficient time for processing, review, potential communication, and for the Embassy to report the results back to CSC on time.

7. The above instructions apply specifically to the "Bilateral Program". For other Chinese Government Scholarship programs, please check the CSC "Study in China" website. Among them, the Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program Chinese Government Scholarship is generally launched at the beginning of each year. The website of the Chinese Embassy will also publish relevant information promptly. Please stay informed.
